On May 6, 2024, the 2024 Global Solutions Summit officially opened in Berlin, Germany. As an important annual event in the field of global governance, this summit has attracted over a thousand government representatives, heads of international organizations, renowned scholars, and industry leaders from various countries. The representative of iiscw was invited to attend and hold a special seminar at the "Global Problem Solving Committee" to share China's perspective and constructive suggestions.
The theme of this summit is "Beyond Crisis: Mobilizing Change to Promote Global Prosperity", focusing on issues such as climate action, socio-economic transformation, energy security, and multilateral cooperation. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation Co Chair Bill Gates, European Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager, World Bank Managing Director Anshula Kanter and other heavyweight guests attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
During the summit, IISCW, CWD, and GSI jointly held a closed door roundtable meeting to engage in in-depth discussions on the topic of "dialogue is the best path to reaching consensus". The attendees included Pedro Villagra Delgado, former G20 coordinator from Argentina, Andreas Schaal, Director of OECD Global Cooperation and G7/G20 coordinator, Stewart Patrick, Senior Researcher at Carnegie Foundation for International Peace, Kenneth Fredriksen, Vice President of Huawei Europe, and others, who reached a broad consensus on strengthening multilateral consultation mechanisms and promoting global cooperation.
Since its establishment in 2017, the Global Solutions Summit has become an important platform for promoting the reform and cooperation of G20, G7 and related international mechanisms. The 2024 summit will have more than 50 special sessions, with about 200 keynote speakers sharing their insights on site, further promoting the global cooperation agenda to jointly address major challenges.
